These are great home-made candies  you can make with your kids for any occasion…why not Valentine’s Day?

My girls and I have made them over and over…it’s a no-fail recipe!

Instead of the traditional box of chocolates, give these to teachers, co-workers, friends…even make your neighbor’s day with a few!  Let your kids be the delivery boys and girls!

Oreo Truffles

1 package regular Oreo cookies, crushed fine

1 8 oz. package of cream cheese, softened

16 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips, melted

Mix the Oreo crumbs and the cream cheese until well blended.  Should look like very dark cookie dough.  Using a small scoop, scoop even an even amount of the mixture and roll  into 1 in. balls.

(this is where the kids come in…many hands make light work!)

Coat each Oreo ball with the melted chocolate and place on cookie sheet covered in wax paper to dry.  Any leftover chocolate can be stored in an air-tight container in the fridge.

Set the truffles in the fridge to set for about an hour.

*For Nutter Butter Truffles, replace Oreo cookies with Nutter Butters.  Follow the same directions.

Variations:

-Use white chocolate instead of semi-sweet

-Top Chocolate covered Oreo truffles with a sprinkling of sea salt, or with ground Oreo crumbs

-Use Peppermint Oreos  for a minty twist

-Top with red sugar for a Valentine treat
